Visit of SOS Children's Villages in Siegwerk Central America
Guatemala
Siegwerk Central America (CA) team hosted a group of young adults from SOS Children's Villages. The group was welcomed by YouthCan! project coordinators Adolfo Fuentes, Supply Chain Management Manager (SCM) and Daisy Ramos, HR Coordinator, and 14 volunteers from different departments of Siegwerk Guatemala. The visit was the culmination of the second phase of the 2024 YouthCan! project.
The project was divided into three phases, with the final goal to give two young people the opportunity to develop a three-month internship with the Siegwerk CA team.
The first phase consisted of online training on the basic concepts of HorizonNow, to all young people willing to participate. In this phase, 30 adolescents and young people participated, from four different locations. At the end of this phase, applications were received from young people who intended to continue in the program with seven youngsters chosen to participate in the second phase.
The second phase consisted of several online trainings, focused on working in various departments at Siegwerk, such as the Commercial and Financial areas. This phase culminated with a two-day visit to the Siegwerk facility, where technical workshops were held on the operation and application of inks, color and supply chain. On the last day of work, the applicants were interviewed by the area managers of Siegwerk CA, who then chose the final students to join the internships.
The third phase is currently under development and consists of the execution of a three-month internship as part of the Siegwerk CA team. The two young people selected were Carmelo Mendoza, who will work as an Operations Assistant as part of the SCM team, and Norilda Díaz, who will take on an Administrative Assistant role, as part of the Finance team.
Welcome to Siegwerk Guatemala Carmelo and Norilda!
