The Nikolaus Foundation participates in Children, Youth, Culture and Sports Festival with the help of Siegwerk

The community of Siegburg came together on the city’s town square recently to celebrate the 18th International Children, Youth, Culture and Sports Festival. Nearly 70 organizations dedicated to working for and with children and young people presented their activities and promoted charitable projects during the event. Among them was Siegburg’s own the Nikolaus Foundation, which is sponsored by Siegwerk.
Each year Siegwerk, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, or CSR efforts, donates money to the help fund the foundation. The organization encourages children and young people to learn about digital technologies, affording them the opportunity to implement their own small projects and provides them direction for future professional careers.
The Nikolaus Stiftung presented its work with project UFO – to help children and young adults - up to age 27 - learn about new digital technologies. Not an unidentified flying object, rather Project UFO is the German language acronym for Our Research Laboratory.
Here, children and young people had the chance to use 3D printing to create a bag, print a bookmark or even make a small robot using a dishwashing brush. These activities all have a link to Siegwerk’s own strategy to drive digitalization within the packaging ink industry.
