Siegwerk India’s visit to SOS Children’s Village focused on tree planting and other sustainable activities
India
Following the path of holistic sustainability and aiming to make a positive contribution to our local ecosystem, volunteers from the Bhiwadi Center of Excellence planned a day visit to the SOS Children’s Village, Faridabad (Haryana) on World Environment Day on June 5.
A fun-filled afternoon was organized with the youth there, engaging them in activities such as tree planting, best made-out-of-waste crafts and a quiz. Keeping with the theme of the year “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience.” the event kicked off with a tree planting drive, followed by a session where the importance of waste segregation and management, with recycling at household level, was discussed. The interactive quiz served as a good repository for the kids to improve their awareness on the topic.
The event concluded with a fun activity of making paper bags out of newspapers and everyday waste.
