Another example of Siegwerk’s strong Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, is the team at Brazil’s Diadema site recent invitation of SOS youths to visit their office.
This is the first time young adults from the SOS Children’s Village in Rio Bonito, the outskirts of São Paulo were at the Siegwerk Brazil offices. In all, 18 Siegwerkers from various departments organized the activities planned for the September 2 excursion.
The youngsters arrived and received guidance on site safety and had a coffee before meeting with the administrative department. Here they watched a brief presentation about Siegwerk and the history of the long-standing partnership between Siegwerk and SOS Children's Villages. Next, Siegwerkers from Sales Administration, Planning, Purchasing and Finance explained their work routines and the importance of each area for the company's success and how they relate to each other.
In the Development Lab, the guests learned about the most important characteristics of ink, especially when developing a new product. The young people had the opportunity to do some tests together with our employees. Afterwards, they visited the Quality Control Laboratory and had the chance to see different packaging types printed with Siegwerk inks. Following lunch in the canteen they toured the Warehouse, Production Planning and Control areas and the factory.
All employees devoted their full attention to the young people which could be seen by the many questions they asked and their interest in Siegwerk’s overall operation.
To close the day, all guests received a Siegwerk kit, with a bag, notebook, pen and a special gift – a portrait with the photo they took at the beginning of the day, - so that the young people will have the memory of their special day.
It was their first visit, but due to the success, more such activities aimed at educating the youngsters on the work environment will be organized again in the future.
