Siegwerk Backnang helps local mentally ill children with unique horse riding therapy

Germany

Siegwerk’s Backnang, Germany site has focused on young people with obsessive-compulsive disorders for their local Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Working with the child and adolescent psychiatry unit of the Winnenden Clinic, Siegwerk donated money for horse riding therapy for ill children.

Through a program called "Sternentraum", or Star Dream, a horse riding therapist helps children to become more self-confident and independent with neurophysiological treatment on horseback. Coordination, balance, patience and many other areas are part of the training. The closeness to the animals also helps children’s self-esteem, motivation and interaction with others.
