Siegwerk will continue its multi-project approach with its Lighthouse Projects
Vietnam
Siegwerk will continue its multi-project approach with its Lighthouse Projects. The joint focus of our partnership approach continues to be on the mentoring initiative - YouthCan! with a focus on Circular Economy projects.
With our annual donation Siegwerk is supporting five projects in:
In all five countries, a relationship has been successfully established between Siegwerk’s local entity and SOS Children’s Villages. Both partners are closely connected to help vulnerable young people to successfully transition to the working world.
While the main focus is on mentoring, Siegwerk’s strategy of providing innovative solutions for a Circular Economy will play a big role in future work with SOS Children’s Villages. Preparing young people for changing environments and other challenges in life, sustainability awareness will play a central role in the training sessions. This also complements the SOS initiative "Climate Protection is Child Protection" perfectly.
Siegwerkers in Vietman continue their excellent support mentoring young adults with a third year partnering with SOS Children’s Villages YouthCan! initiative
Helping young adults gain better skills after graduating and joining the competitive job market remains a key focus this year. High numbers of unemployed young people in Vietnam highlight the need for further education and training to enhance their employability. Education is becoming more expensive with many of the poorest in the country being left behind and not able to participate in educational opportunities or only training of lower quality.
To teach young people about goal setting and planning, Siegwerkers in Vietnam help by building youngsters management skills and developing strategies for decision making and problem solving. During a workshop and idea exchange, forty young people from the SOS Children’s Village in Ben Tre had the chance to get in-person mentoring from our employees. The group of youths were invited to visit our Siegwerk Vietnam’s site.
In addition to job shadowing and mentoring, training on additional soft skills were conducted as well as vocational training and English language courses.
The partnership with SOS Children’s Villages and Siegwerk’s support of the YouthCan! program demonstrates the positive impact possible in building better futures for many young adults in Vietnam.
