Siegwerk Morganton volunteers raise money and have fun with a grilled cheese cookoff

Siegwerk Morganton employees and their families participated in the Meeting Place Mission’s 10th Annual Fundraiser, Give Cheese A Chance contest. The local Corporate Social Responsibility project raised more than $17,000 this year.
This year 20 teams assembled to compete for the Big Cheese trophy. The Siegwerk team was excited and enjoyed working with the other teams to put on the event. Siegwerk’s team took home the gold prize for the second year in a row.
The winning sandwich this year was a cheese and ham on brioche bread with Swiss and provolone cheese and an applewood smoked ham. It had a homemade garlic aioli sauce on it, topped with a dill pickle chunk and your choice of a homemade honey mustard or Dijon mustard dipping sauce.
The Give Cheese A Chance fundraiser is an annual event held by and for the Meeting Place Mission, where volunteers sign up to compete in a grilled cheese cookoff competition. One hundred percent of the proceeds goes toward funding the operations of the area shelter which includes emergency housing, transitional housing services, counseling services to help their clients obtain and have the foundation to maintain their permanent housing.
