Siegwerk Guatemala embraces YouthCan! with project “Trainee Siegwerk”

For the team in Siegwerk Guatemala, this year’s project consisted of a series of online and on-site training sessions with a group a young people from all of SOS homes in in the country. The project concluded with the selection of two young people, who are currently carrying out a three-month internship as part of Siegwerk’s team in Guatemala.
The main objective of project ‘Trainee Siegwerk’ has been to train young people who are about to start their professional career, providing them with relevant knowledge and real-world experience. This has been broken down into three distinct phases.
Phase 1: New Horizons 2025+
This phase consisted of four online training sessions, covering the four main foundations of Siegwerk’s corporate vision New Horizons 2025+: Circular Economy, Digitalization, People and Efficiency.
This phase was open to every young person, between the ages of 14 and 25, that was part of a SOS Children’s Village in Guatemala and was willing to participate.A total of 36 young adults participated.
Phase 2: Occupational Training
This phase concluded with a three-day visit to Siegwerk’s site in Guatemala. The visit consisted of a site tour, on-site training sessions, a final knowledge test and mock-up job interviews with the managers and human resources coordinator.
Phase 3: Three-month internship
A special meeting was held, between Siegwerk Guatemala’s managers and HR, to select the two finalists, who would form part of Siegwerk’s team for three months. Several factors were taken into consideration to make the final decision including:
- Training session attendance for the two phases.
- Test scores from the three exams taken.
- Observations from each manager, based on the interviews held in the visit.
- How well their profile would fit the area where they would work, either HR/Finance or SCM.
